Mary Michelle and Andrew (Wedding!!)

So, like I’ve said before when I sit down to blog, it’s like a blog explosion! I get a little carried away!

I’ve been trying to think of what to say about Mary Michelle and Andrew… I’m stumped because they are so GORGEOUS I get sucked in to looking at their crazy awesome pictures! From the moment Mary Michelle walked in to Chapelle des Fleurs that day, I knew it was going to be an incredible day! She was so excited, and dressed in YELLOW! I love it when I see my brides loving color! (If you haven’t noticed I’m a little obsessed!) She and her girls were hilarious, and then to top everything off, Andrew and his guys were so funny! I love it when the guys aren’t shy in front of the camera and have me laughing so hard that sometimes I forget I’m shooting them!

At the end of the night Andrew and Mary Michelle’s dad surprised her by having the horse drawn carriage take them around for a starlit ride! She thought they were going to be leaving her stinkin amazing Corvette! So we had to give her car some love too!

There are so many stories from that day… I was nice and withheld some, so no one would be embarrassed, but let’s just say, I had a smile on my face the entire day from all the fun Lane and I had at this amazing wedding!!!

Monica and David (Wedding!!)

There are some weddings where I pack up my equipment at the end of the night, get in my car, and sadness hits me because I am truly so sad that their wedding has come and gone! I absolutely LOVED this couple from the very first time I met them! I met them at a Starbucks and could have sat there with them all night long! I felt like we had been friends for so long! Even as I was looking through their images to get them edited and ready I would bust out laughing or almost cry because I was so attached to them and their story! I could not be happier and feel more privileged to have been a part of their huge day! I feel so honored! Anyway, with the first picture… how could you NOT love them!

And you can tell their reception was Amaazing! I pretty much have the whole thriller dance frame by frame in our images! Hilarious! And, might I add, one of the best thriller dances I’ve ever seen!

Congratulations Monica and David! I can’t wait to see your story unfold together!

Von Anthony Salon (Vendors!!)

I’ve found that when I sit down to do a blog post, it’s like a snow storm, and I do like 5 in one day! So, forgive me for the blog attack today~but, if you’re bored at work, or just like to see what new words I can come up with, I’ve given you something to do today, You’re Welcome! ha.

In March we’ve got some AWESOME weddings to look forward to! One, that we are all excited about is Jana and BJ on the 12th! Their engagement session was HOT! And her bridals were even more amazing! The girl just can’t take a bad picture! The preparation process is probably one of my favorites! I love what girls go through on the day of their wedding to make sure that their new husband has the “WOW!” face when he sees her for the first time! Jana got her hair done at the Von Anthony Salon in Frisco. Super modern, hot, contemporary salon and they let us come in and take some of her bridals IN the salon! When the owner saw the end result he did not hesitate in getting some canvases up of this gorgeous girl!

The people at Von Anthony Salon are so nice, and great to work with! They want to make sure you look your absolute best on the biggest day of you life! They have an amazing area for you and your girls to get ready, the cutest bathrooms Laura’s ever seen, they do hair AND make-up. They are basically your one stop shop for AWESOME-NESS!!

Lankford Weddings (Vendors!)

Well everyone, it’s VENDOR day again! I am really loving getting to know some of my favorite vendors! I only get to see them doing their thing at the wedding, so getting to sit down with them, share some lunch, and talk about who they are and what they do is a lot of fun! I hope these little vendor posts help some of you out who haven’t found your favorites yet!

Last week I got to have lunch with Gary Lankford from Lankford Weddings… I took him to Babe’s Chicken in Frisco… AMAZING food… A LOT of food, but that’s never been a problem for me!

Gary is not only a fantastic DJ/MC he is also amazing at helping you plan your awesome event!

Some of my favorite pictures from a wedding I got to do with Gary! I love how the lights add so much to the pictures! Lighting is my new favorite thing! It changes your reception, and makes it so much fun! And… you gotta love that picture of Gary! Any DJ/MC that can get into the music and have a good time is always worth it! No need in having a DJ who doesn’t love music as much as you do!

So… some fun things you should know about Gary and why he is amazing:

1)Gary has been a “DJ” for 9 years, but for the last 3 years has really given all his focus to not only being a great DJ, but also learning what it takes to be an amazing MC. Gary takes the time to get to know each of his brides, and makes every wedding personal to who you are and how you dream your wedding to be.

2)Gary wants to make sure that your wedding is just that… YOURS. He makes every effort so that it is not the same as the wedding he did last night, or last week!

3)… I hear so often… Oh, I’ll just use my iPod for the reception, it has all the songs I like anyway! So I asked Gary why should I hire him instead of use my iPod? He laughed a little to himself, because he’s heard that too! Basically here’s what iPods CAN’T do… They can’t announce you, they can’t make you feel the emotion of the first dance, they can’t get everyone up and dancing, they can’t make sure everyone’s attention is on the bride and groom… And my new favorite thing… they can’t mix music! Sounds silly, I know. But, the last thing you want is that dead space between songs, it’s dead quiet, and a little awkward! It would be like having disposable cameras at your wedding instead of a photographer! Don’t get me wrong… I LOVE disposable cameras, they can be SO fun at the reception… but they can’t tell what’s going on, and find that emotion, and see the day as you would want to relive it!

4)On that note… Gary and his amazing crew, help make memories for you! If the DJ doesn’t match you and your fiance, and doesn’t get the feeling you want for your reception it will be pretty obvious! BUT… when you do click… everything just syncs! And it makes my job that much more amazing! You can tell in the pictures when the music and the dj did their job!

5)Gary is constantly doing things to make sure he is growing, and learning, and being the best for you! He is on the Board of Directors of the American Disc Jockey Association. (This means that he has a code of ethics that he has to uphold at his events… so you know you are getting quality). He is also a part of June Weddings… an amazing association of wedding vendors!

So… all in all… Gary is amazing! I love working with him! And, I think you can definitely tell in the pictures… he pretty much rocks it out!

Each and Every Detail (Vendors)

I had the absolute pleasure of hanging out with Wendy Kidd from Each and Every Detail last week! This year I decided I wanted to really get to know some of the vendors I get to work with. I wanted to start off my year with a few vendors that people think they don’t need; Wedding Planners and DJ’s. Wendy is one of the most organized, amazing, hilarious, professional wedding planners I have ever met! (Next week you get to meet Gary Lankford of Lankford Weddings, a fantastic DJ!) Wendy and I met in McKinney and got to talk about how amazing she is over these great little cupcakes from Spoon.

Wendy has this super cute office in downtown McKinney, and from the moment I walked into it I felt so warm and at home! (Warm partly because it happened to be freezing outside!!)

Questions you might want to ask Wendy:

How long have you been a Wedding Planner?

Well, before she started wedding planning and coordinating she was in the IT World! (My first response was “EW.”) Then she got to help her friend plan her wedding, and was hooked. She went to work for Storybook Ranch as their Event Manager, basically doing anything and everything, 5 years ago! Then she started Each and Every Detail 3 years ago and has been running with it since!

Why should I hire a Wedding Planner?

A generation ago mom’s were the coordinator of weddings and they were much easier to put together. Weddings were completely different back then. Now everyone works full time, and has a million things going on. Wendy is there to lend experience, knowledge, skills, and a shoulder to lean on. Wendy helps each bride with negotiation, how to host a party, and all the other things that go into a wedding that we forget about.

What makes you SO amazing?

Wendy describes Each and Every Detail as the “Personable professional”. In less than 5 minutes of being with her I felt like I’ve known her forever! And as much as we were joking and laughing together, she is still super professional! She knows exactly what it takes to pull your vision to life! Her bride’s are her priority! She does not try to impose her ideas and vision on your wedding day. She truly listens to what you have to say and wants to make sure that you are happy with every decision that goes into planning your wedding!

Wendy’s new planner, Emily, has learned that planning a wedding with Wendy is different than with anyone else.

Emily wants you to know that Wendy is an advocate for each of her fabulous brides! She will fight for you and what YOU want! It is really all about making sure your wedding day is everything you dreamed of, and making sure you aren’t running around like a crazy person on the day of!

Her office is filled with all kinds of amazing tips and tricks to help you have your vision! And she is super organized. To the fact that I really am considering her coming to my apartment and organizing my life!

And just to be fun and slightly obnoxious I asked her that awesome question we all love!!

Describe yourself in 5 words!

gregarious, generous, honest, driven, and yes… a cat-lover!

Jennifer (Bridals!!)

So, since I just posted their amazing wedding… I thought I would let you in on her GORGEOUS bridals!! Holy cow, they were drop dead gorgeous! Once again, she rocks the birdcage veil and that fantastic shawl! I think another reason I may love this session/wedding so much… is because I’m slightly obsessed with purple right now! I mean, it’s probably getting to an unhealthy level!
Anyway… enjoy! She’s fantastic!

Gorgeous!

Jennifer and Michael (Wedding!)

Jennifer and Michael were married on December 20… and Laura got to do her Bridals, and this girl is fantastic, and gorgeous, and pulls off that amazing vintage look like no one else! From her dress, to her birdcage veil, to her amazing shaw, to her self made florals…  Is there anything this girl can’t do!?! As I was looking through her images (because sadly I wasn’t able to be at this one, but Laura and Damon are ROCKSTARS) I was jaw dropped pretty much the whole time at just how freaking amazing she is, he is, and their wedding was!

And if you don’t know… you should… I LOVE details! They are so small, but SO amazing! Each little detail is a little bit of the couples personality! UGH! I LOVE IT! And, not every girl can pull off the vintage awesome birdcage veil, but this girl…. just makes it look GORGEOUS!

For Jennifer and Michael’s formal pictures of the wedding party, Laura and Damon got REAL creative! They wanted to do them in front of this perfect purple wall downtown, but did not want to see each other before the wedding! So… they improvised! And I think they ended up with some of our best formals yet! Remember:they couldn’t see each other!!

Gorgeous couple, gorgeous wedding, gorgeous day… it was amazing!! On a side note, I added that picture of Michael and one of his groomsmen to say this: I will never understand the friendships guys have. They are so funny! Guys formals are always one of my highlights, because you never know the track guys will take. Will they hate pictures? Will they be coming up with ideas? Will they just awkwardly hug each other? It’s always a fun game I like to play!

Oh and… Props!!! Always a good idea! You can NEVER go wrong with props!!

Contest Winner!!

Our second contest ended this past weekend… and let me just say… I LOVED this contest! I love decorating for Christmas, but because I was out of town for most of December, I didn’t get to decorate my place. Super sad about it! So, getting to see everyone’s Christmas tree was so amazing! And for all of you sharing your first Christmas together… I hope it was amazing, and crazy, and wonderful!

Anyway, on to the news… Jessica and Brantley are getting married May 16, 2010 and I CANNOT wait for their day! Their Christmas tree is HUGE!! And they made it look like a wonderful big jolly Santa Claus! So unique, and such a great idea! So, Congratulations Jessica and Brantley!!

Happy Holidays!

The holiday season is officially upon us! This is probably my favorite time of year!

Walking outside just amazes me! The leaves, the colors, the air, the cooler temperature! It’s so refreshing! It may be crazy busy but, it’s a totally different busy! With all that being said… we are announcing our SECOND contest! The first one was so fun, and such a success, we are starting our next one!

One of my favorite things to do during this season, is pick a theme for my Christmas Tree and go all out decorating it! It’s so fun! And, I know Laura loves it because there are typically 3 different trees in her home! When we love something, we tend to obsess over it (Christmas trees, rings, each couples little story, purple…)

So, send us a picture of your masterpiece! Once you have finished decorating your tree send us a picture of you and your fiance in front of it! Then, we will pick the most awesome, unique, off the wall, inspiring, Christmas spirit-y, Christmas Tree!! The winner will once again get to choose a session of their dreams! Engagement, Bridal, After Session fun, Bedtime Stories, or just some fun where you and your fiance want to be models!

We need these works of art submitted by December 26th. That gives you PLENTY of time to think up, create, and show us what you came up with! Email all entries to info@fairytalephotography.com

Have fun with this! Happy Holidays!
